It's possible to cheat death in this world. You die and wake up at your bed, no matter where you were.

I imagine it uses the same mechanism as teleportation.

This brings the chance of the same subspace pocket lengthening as teleportation. Between death and life, between reality and afterlife, is nothingness. It's eternity in nothingness.

And then you wake up with a new scar or a reminder of your death no matter how traumatic.

If we are functionally immortal, why are we allowed to "die" in the first place?

God help us.
