Rhubarb is a normal guy who lives in a hole in a mountainside.
Personality
Rhubarb is an extremely paranoid and isolated man. He has a habit of shutting himself off from the other islanders, keeping many secrets and refusing to elaborate on his cryptic statements. He tries to avoid drama, unless he's not involved, in which case he wants to know everything about it and will egg on any negative feelings. He grows obsessed with things easily. More than anything else, he is deeply lonely and afraid of losing everything again, doesn't understand who or what he is, and is incredibly easy to manipulate due to his fragile mental state.
Backstory
A long time ago, Rhubarb woke up in a place he didn't recognize with no memory of who he was or where he came from. All that he knew was that he wasn't supposed to be here, and he was terrified. He ran away from where he woke up and started living a life of secrecy, digging a house out of a stony shore and staying there. He took up exploring, trying to map out this unfamiliar world he found himself in, and eventually came across the deep dark and the Ancient Cities. There, he began to feel drawn to the sculk and to the Warden's looming presence.
Current History
Rhubarb fell asleep for a very long time and woke up again, in another place he didn't recognize. Everything he had worked for was gone, replaced by this unfamiliar island. This time, he remembered who he was from that past world. He proceeded to do the exact same thing as before: running into the ocean and living in a hole. After settling down, he started as an explorer again, and once again found himself drawn to the Ancient Cities. When he met the Warden again, it stayed with him. He started having strange dreams, hearing the Warden's heart beat, and sculk started to manifest in people's homes.
The constant beating of the Warden's heart in his head started to drive him insane, slowly. He started to fall prey to the Warden's influence, leaving cryptic messages around the island. Sculk started appearing at spawn, a massive mound of it resembling an egg sack. He had a conspiracy board and messy journals on his shelf, all documenting what he believed to be "the truth" about this world.
All of it was bullshit. During an island meeting, he was asked to leave. He immediately left and killed himself within the sculk mound, trying to remove his own soul. After failing to do that successfully, the Warden decided he was a failure and abandoned him.
Rhubarb was miserable throughout the days after, sealing himself in his home and letting everything fall to pieces. He got better, eventually.
