Teleporting is useful. A subspace portal opens up and you walk through it and end up at your destination.

Sometimes the subspace portal stretches out for too long and you end up in nothingness. It's nothingness. How long are you there? Longer than you think.

It feels like an eternity. Eternity alone with nothing but your thoughts. And then it's normal and you're at your destination and have to keep on.

Usually, however, it's a simple trip from point A to point B with no interruption.
